The AmeriCorps Program: Healthy Families for a Brighter Future is a community-driven initiative dedicated to improving the health and wellness of children, teens, and families throughout Hidalgo County.
What We Offer
Healthy Families for a Brighter Future
Funded by the OneStar Foundation and the Corporation for National and Community Service, our AmeriCorps members serve local communities by promoting healthy lifestyles and increasing access to wellness resources.
How We Serve
Through nutrition education, physical fitness activities, parent workshops, and community health events, members work directly with youth and families to address childhood obesity, juvenile diabetes, and limited access to preventive health education. The programming is engaging and hands-on, designed to encourage healthy habits, active living, and positive decision-making.
Our Reach
The program reaches over 1,000 youth annually across multiple Club sites and community locations throughout Hidalgo County. Through safe, supportive, and educational environments, members build confidence, develop lifelong healthy habits, and gain knowledge for healthier futures.
