About Our Club
Since 1983, the Boys & Girls Club of Pharr–San Juan has given local youth and teens a safe place to learn, play, and grow, and the caring adults to help them get there.
Our story
The Club began in 1983 as a single unit, founded by Gabriel Avendaño, the first unit director of the Boys Club of Pharr, and Raul Rosales, the first chairman of its board. What started with one building has grown into a seven-site operation serving hundreds of young people every day across Pharr, San Juan, Alamo, and the surrounding communities.
We carry forward the heart of every board member, staff member, volunteer, and supporter who built this organization. As a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) governed by local business and community leaders, we will keep doing whatever it takes to create great futures for every young person who walks through our doors.
